CAA Women's Basketball Tournament Fairfax Sport reviews
Smokey Robinson can still sing soulfully
After attending the CAA Women's Basketball Tournament, I was impressed by the energetic and passionate performance of the artist, who seemed to be really enjoying himself and connecting with the audience. The sound system and video were top-notch, and the audience was very responsive.
The set opened strongly, but it could have closed better, and the performance seemed a bit long as the artist focused on promoting songs from his most recent recordings. While these songs were not necessarily bad, they were not particularly noteworthy either.
Although dancers made appearances at various points during the show, they did not significantly enhance the overall experience. The artist concluded with a sing-along, which personally didn't appeal to me, as I felt I could experience that in a church setting.
I had anticipated an encore featuring songs like "Shop Around" or "Going to A-Go-Go," but unfortunately, that was not the case. The performance was very professional, but it could have been more concise, as it lasted almost 120 minutes, with a significant portion dedicated to songs not typically associated with the artist.
Overall, it was a pleasure to finally witness this Motown legend perform live.
